The 1 day Copy Editing certificated course is highly practical, very thorough and specific in its content and delivery.
Through a series of practical exercises, you will learn to approach the printed word in a more analytical and critical way, allowing you to spot errors quickly and have the confidence to rewrite everyday text into concise, precise and compelling editorial copy at high speed.
The course will cover the basics of copy editing, the flow of work from start to end, grammar, tricky spelling, common mistakes in punctuation, working to house style, essential typography, writing compelling copy, interesting headlines and working with figures.
The Copy Editing course is suitable for anyone who is a proofreader looking to enhance their freelancing opportunities, someone within a publishing house, or working in communications and producing content, or if you are someone who has some editing work but lack formal training. The Copy Editing course will provide you with the specific knowledge and practical skills needed to work successfully as a copy-editor in the publishing industry, in-house in your organisation, working in communications and needing to produce high end content and beyond.

The final Certificate award will be based on the following:
Critical Thinking Exercises set and completed during the training - a series of practical exercises are set for each session for the delegates to work on during their training. This is an effective way to try out what you have been learning and gain insight and feedback, as you progress with each session during the course.
