Maximise your Social Media Reach with LSPR’s Recommended CSR and Sustainability Hashtags

May 22, 2020

Corporate Social Responsibility tends to be associated with “maximising value for shareholders." The scope of CSR has broadened, as brands address various social concerns. CSR now includes the environment broadly, diversity, sustainability, ethical production, climate change and workforce equality.

Using the right hashtags within your social media strategy is crucial to the success of a CSR campaign. Using relevant hashtags broadens the scope of audiences and increases engagement significantly.

Long, wordy hashtags are difficult to read and often go unnoticed on social media. Another common mistake is using hashtags that are too broad and not topic specific.

Read below for our list of CSR hashtags, by category, to help you increase the scope of your content.

Environmental CSR

Environmental CSR practices reduce harm caused to the environment as a result of business practices. Not only does it increase brand reputation, but also provides opportunities for cost savings. The practices include waste management, recycling, water usage and eco-friendly work policies.

Some industry-wide best practices:

  • Eliminating packaging waste
  • Reducing water consumption
  • Efficient transportation
  • Investing in renewable energy
  • Supply chain efficiency

Ford Motors sets a great example when it comes to implementing environment CSR. They use sustainable materials in their cars - 80% of the Focus and Escape car models are recyclable. Systematic inequality exists within most company structures, which has led to companies to focus on diversity management.  Implementing strategies that involve people from diverse backgrounds, while reducing the age, gender, nationality and sexuality gap has become a crucial task for companies.

Implementing a successful renewable energy CSR strategy leads to cost savings, as businesses replace expensive utility-fed power.

Lego focuses their CSR strategy on tackling climate change and reducing waste. With the completion of a 258MW offshore wind farm in 2019, the company’s production facilities are entirely supported by renewable energy.

Businesses try to meet the ethical standards in several ways, such as the usage of safe materials, reducing animal testing, waste management, ethical labour working conditions, offering environmentally friendly products and services.
